Make Future Plans to be a Part of Explore & More's New Museum!
Turning Dreams into Reality
The dream of building a new Explore & More Children's Museum on the Buffalo Waterfront is becoming a reality! The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation has announced its support of Explore & More as the operator of a children’s museum at Canalside, expected to open by Memorial Day weekend 2016.
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation’s support is directly focused on the “core and shell” of a building—the outside walls, floors, staircases and elevators. Explore & More is responsible for all the rest of the building—such as inside walls, bathrooms, carpets—as well as designing and building all of the great exhibits inside!
Through this Spring, Explore & More will be developing the Master Plan for the new museum and ensuring that the museum will be able to raise the funds needed to open at the new site. Gyroscope, the firm that has been selected to lead the master planning process, is an award-winning, full-service, comprehensive, museum planning, architecture and exhibit design firm specializing in museums undergoing expansion, re-positioning and relocation. Gyroscope’s mission is to design learning environments that provide value for children, families, and communities. They are working with local architectural firm Flynn Battaglia on the Master Plan for the museum at Canalside.
With the master planning process well underway, we have recently hired the nationally renowned fundraising consultant firm, CapitalQuest, to develop the Fundraising Plan for our Capital Campaign, which will kick off in 2014.

Private Show & Tell presentations can be organized (anytime/anywhere) for groups of 8 or more!
